Move On, Harry Reid

Hey, hey, heave ho, Harry Reid has got to go!

Harry Reid: Of “Pets” and “Hottest Members”

leave a comment »

A special edition by Jarrod Agen, Communications Director, Sharron Angle campaign:

Not a good start to the work week for the Senator Reid.  News broke yesterday that Harry is creating special earmarks for his high dollar donors.  As the LVRJ reports, thousands of dollars from the owner of Arcata Associates to Harry’s campaign resulted in Reid earmarking millions back to company.

The most shocking part:

“The most recent earmark came after the Army said it was no long seeking money for the defense project.”  (Las Vegas Review Journal, Steve Tetreault “Reid criticized for earmark for LV firm” 9/20/10)

Back at home, on top of 14th straight month of record unemployment, news was equally bad for the housing market.

“Home sales and median prices showed no signs of improvement in August, Las Vegas-based Home Builders Research reported Monday.  There were 401 new-home sales during the month, compared with 426 in the same month a year ago. Resale transactions fell to 3,313 from 3,833 a year ago.” (Las Vegas Review Journal, Hubble Smith “Housing market not showing signs of improving” 9/20/10)

Surely, things would be better for Harry while he was hanging out on the Upper East Side of Manhattan yesterday.  Let’s take a look at how that went:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had an unusual form of praise for New York’s junior senator, Kirsten  Gillibrand, this morning at the fundraiser Mayor Bloomberg hosted for him at his townhouse – referring to her as “the hottest member” as she sat just a few feet away, according to three sources.

The comment prompted Gillibrand to turn red, according to the sources, and created a bit of stir among the small crowd there.

“It was pretty shocking when he said it,” said one source familiar with the remark and the reaction.  (Politico, Maggie Haberman “Reid calls Gillibrand the ‘hottest’ member at fundraiser” 9/20/10 )

Okay!  Well, I guess that didn’t go so well either.  But Senator Gillibrand, at least Harry didn’t call you his “pet”.

You might be a domestic enemy (of the United States) if…

leave a comment »

From The Washington Post:

“Sharron Angle is the national GOP’s candidate in what is arguably the most high-profile Senate race in the country. On the day she announced her candidacy in 2009, Angle clearly and unequivocally agreed with a conservative radio host who claimed that there are “domestic enemies” and homegrown enemies” within the Senate and the Congress.

She has now been given three chances to disavow this claim or to state clearly that she doesn’t agree with it. In all three cases, she’s refused.

Angle’s latest refusal came this morning, in response to aggressive questioning from ABC News’ Jonathan Karl:

ABC NEWS: Do we have enemies of the country inside the walls of Congress?

ANGLE: Certainly people who pass these kinds of policies — Obamacare, cap and trade, stimulus, bailout — they’re certainly not friends to the free market system.

ABC NEWS: So, what are they?

ANGLE: They’re not friends.”

Sharron Angle is right.  Let’s explore the idea that there might be “domestic enemies” within Congress.

You might be a domestic enemy if:

  • you declare “this war is lost” while American troops fighting that war are still in harm’s way
  • you vote to confirm Supreme Court Justices who do not believe the Constitution establishes the right to keep and bear arms
  • you promise transparency to the American people, then continue with as many back door deals as you like, on the largest legislation issues of our time
  • you craft and ram through Congress, through threats, blackmail, and bribery, a bill that requires, as a condition of citizenship, the purchase of health care insurance
  • you actually believe that race should dictate what party you belong to (e.g., “I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage can be a Republican”)
  • your policies have resulted in the worst unemployment rate since the Great Depression, yet you continue down the same path
  • you ally yourself with a president who:

-believes the Constitution is a “flawed” document that “focuses on what government can’t do to you…”

-allows the prosecution our Navy Seals but lets the USS Cole and Lockerbie bombers go free, one to a hero’s welcome

-is uncomfortable with the word “victory” except in reference to his own campaign (Yes, you are correct, Sarah Palin! And he continues to prove it!)

-treats our enemies like friends and snubs (or worse) our allies (e.g., Poland, England, France, and most alarmingly, Israel – our most important and staunchest in the Middle East)

-brings up one of our own member states before the UN as an example of having committed “human rights violations”

-refuses to secure our borders

Gee whiz, I can’t imagine why Sharron Angle has suggested that there might be domestic enemies in Congress…

Who is Sharron Angle’s God?

leave a comment »

“How do you explain all this? You’re now a national story, are you kind of overwhelmed by it all?” asked Ralph Reed of The Christian Coalition.

“I believe that God has been in this from the beginning and because of that when He has a plan and a purpose for your life and you fit into that, what He calls you to He always equipped you for,” Sharron Angle replied.

Now her critics accuse her of claiming God told her to run for office, claiming God is on her side, etc. etc.

But the real question is not whether God told Sharron Angle to run, but Who is Sharron Angle’s God?

Is He:

-Harry Reid’s racist god, who despises those who speak with a negro dialect (whose scriptures state that god cursed evildoers with black skin) and Hispanics who are intelligent enough to think for themselves, and perhaps – gasp – not be Democrats?

-Obama’s god, who demands collective salvation, that for one to be saved, all must be saved (which leads to tyranny)?

-Jeremiah Wright’s racist god of black liberation theology, hatred of Israel, of god damn America, and chickens coming home to roost?

-the one who commands death to infidels and glorifies jihad in his holy book – the same one to whom his followers proposed building a Monument, celebrating jihad, at Ground Zero?

-Nancy’s Pelosi’s god, “the word”, the one you can fill in with whatever you want – who was the inspiration for a bill that promotes the slaughter of His most defenseless creatures?

Or, is He:

-the same God Sarah Palin reveres, who directs her steps, and whose church building those who hate her set ablaze?

-the same God one of our Founders spoke of in saying, “Those who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants” (William Penn)?

Why is it acceptable for Obama, Reid, and Pelosi to speak of their god, unchallenged, but Sharron Angle and Sarah Palin’s God makes people hold their ears and scream?

The God you serve will determine for whom you will vote in November, people of Nevada and people of The United States of America.

Why Sharron Angle “Runs from the Press”

with 3 comments

As reported in The Huffington Post:

“Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle proved to be camera shy once again when she declined to take questions from reporters at a media-friendly event organized by her campaign on Wednesday.

“…As she left the press conference a local television reporter called after her: ‘Sharron, will you answer some questions really quickly.’ (Sorry, HuffPo doesn’t know how to use question marks, and I am quoting.  Comment mine.) Angle did not turn around and a member of her staff responded, ‘We’re running behind, I’m sorry.’

“’The whole point of an interview is to use it like they say, ‘earned media,’ to earn something with it,’ Angle recently told CBN’s David Brody. ‘And I’m not going to earn anything from people who are there to badger me and use my words to batter me with.’”

Why does Sharron Angle “run from the press”?

Well, let’s see.  Maybe it’s because:

1)       Most mainstream media members aren’t interested in the truth, or in portraying conservatives fairly.

2) Mainstream media members of organizations like Politico, Time, The Huffington Post, and The Washington Post would rather conspire to conceal the relationship between Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright at a critical time in a presidential election, or conspire to portray any popular conservative as a racist (just pick one!), or wish a slow and painful death on Rush Limbaugh, or shut down Fox News, or compare Tea Partiers to Nazis, or destroy Sarah Palin. (In case you are one of those mainstream media members, and haven’t heard about this story, it can be found here, here, and here).

3)      She needs campaign contributions, and she doesn’t have the president flying to Nevada, twice, at a cost of approximately $1 million per trip in taxpayer funds, to do fundraisers for her, while the fawning media tells sunny happy stories about it.

4)       The press isn’t really interested in her views. They are interested in trapping her and making her look foolish.  See #1.

5)       Since, according to liberal media, conservatives can’t read anyway, she’s saving her breath for talk radio.

6)       Her supporters and those likely to support her don’t watch mainstream media on TV either.

7)       Her views are on her website, and have been presented on numerous radio talk shows. Read, and listen, if you dare.

8)       Don’t worry media members! You’ll get your chance before November, if you haven’t lost ALL of your audience by then.

Sharron Angle Re: 2nd Amendment Rights

with 6 comments

What Sharron Angle said (as reported in The Las Vegas Sun):

“She said the purpose of the right to bear arms is to check the federal government. But she stopped short of saying that she would support an armed uprising.

“‘Our Founding Fathers, they put that Second Amendment in there for a good reason, and that was for the people to protect themselves against a tyrannical government,’ Angle told conservative talk show host Lars Larson in January. ‘In fact, Thomas Jefferson said it’s good for a country to have a revolution every 20 years. I hope that’s not where we’re going, but you know, if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies.’

“Also that month, she told Reno conservative talk show host Bill Manders she hoped her opponent, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, would be defeated at the ballot box before the electorate resorted to more aggressive measures.

“’I’m hoping that we’re not getting to Second Amendment remedies,’ Angle said. ‘I hope that the vote will be the cure for the Harry Reid problems.’

“And last month she told the Reno Gazette-Journal ‘it’s almost an imperative’ that conservatives win.

“‘The nation is arming,’ she told the newspaper. ‘What are they arming for if it isn’t that they are so distrustful of their government? They’re afraid they’ll have to fight for their liberty in more Second Amendment kinds of ways. That’s why I look at this as almost an imperative. If we don’t win at the ballot box, what will be the next step?’”

What Thomas Jefferson said:

-“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of tyrants and patriots.”

-“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort (emphasis mine), to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”

-“What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?”

-“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”

-“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” (Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria)

Chris Matthews, perhaps you’d like to “pull the scab off” Thomas Jefferson or some other Founding Father.  Maybe that would give you “a thrill up your leg”!

Come on, people! You have forgotten your history! What Sharron Angle said is MILD compared to some of Thomas Jefferson’s quotes. And that is only Thomas Jefferson.  If I added James Madison, George Mason, Noah Webster, Alexander Hamilton, William Rawle, Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, and George Washington, just to name a few, I could fill volumes.

But I shall end with a great one by George Washington:

“Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence (emphasis mine) … From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good (emphasis mine)”

Sharron Angle Re: Abortion

leave a comment »

From The Huffington Post:

“Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle (, insertion mine) has moderated a host of policy positions in her transition from a primary candidate to general election contender battling Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. One thing she has not backed away from has been her insistence that abortion should be outlawed universally, even in cases of rape and incest.

“In a radio interview Angle did in late June, the Tea Party favorite re-affirmed her pro-life sensibilities (rigid, as they are, even within Republican circles), when she insisted that a young girl raped by her father should know that ‘two wrongs don’t make a right.’ Much good can come from a horrific situation like that, Angle added. Lemons can be made into lemonade.

“…Angle: …My own personal feelings and that is always what I express, my personal feeling is that we need to err on the side of life. There is a plan and a purpose, a value to every life no matter what it’s location, age, gender or disability. So whenever we talk about government and government’s role, government’s role is to protect life and that’s what our Founding Fathers said, that we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

“…The Nevada Republican earlier discussed her beliefs on the topic during an interview with the Bill Manders in which she called pregnancy in cases of rape and incest, ‘God’s plan.’”

Let me ask “The Huffington Post” and Sharron’s other opponents: Why are you obsessed with rape and incest abortions, which account for only 1% (some data indicate much less than that) of all abortions?

But since everyone seems to want to discuss the “1%”, let’s:

This is from

“…In their new book, Victims and Victors (Acorn Books, 2000), editors David Reardon, Amy Sobie and Julie Makimaa draw on testimonies of 192 women who experienced pregnancy as the result of rape or incest, and 55 children who were conceived through sexual assault. It turns out that when victims of violence speak for themselves, their opinion of abortion is nearly unanimous-and the opposite of what the average person expects.

“Nearly all the women interviewed in this anecdotal survey said they regretted aborting the babies conceived via rape or incest. Of those giving an opinion, more than 90 percent said they would discourage other victims of sexual violence from having an abortion.

“On the other hand, among the women profiled in the book who conceived due to rape or incest and carried to term, not one expressed regret about her choice. Of those giving an opinion, 94 percent of rape victims and 100 percent of incest victims said abortion was not a good option for other women in their situation.”

Further, from, “approximately 70 percent of all women believe abortion is immoral, even though many also feel it should be a legal choice for others. Approximately the same percentage of pregnant rape victims believe abortion would be just another act of violence perpetrated against their bodies and their children (emphasis mine).” Indeed, some women report still suffering over the loss of their unborn aborted baby long after the trauma of the rape has healed.

Is it the child’s fault that he or she was conceived via rape or incest? Shall the innocent die because an evil and violent man committed a crime? Delivering and loving a baby that was conceived this painful way can do much to heal a woman’s pain, while the memory of adding violence on top of violence can make healing much more difficult, since guilt is involved.

Good for Sharron Angle for standing her ground as a true statesman and refusing to backtrack on such a pivotal issue.

Sharron Angle Interview with Don Wade and Roma on WLS in Chicago

leave a comment »

Two items of note:

1)      Don Wade and Roma asked Sharron Angle ( how she would respond to critics who say she is too conservative to win the election.

She responded that people said Ronald Reagan was too conservative to win (I don’t recall him having trouble winning in 1980 – comment mine), and he gave us over 30 years of prosperity.

She later added that if increasing tax revenue is the desired effect, reduce tax rates – and that yes, this is a conservative idea.

Right on, Sharron Angle, right on!

2)      Don Wade and Roma asked Sharron if she would vote for or against the confirmation of Elena Kagan.

She said she would vote against the confirmation of Kagan – first because she has no judicial experience – and second because she is not a strict constructionist.

Right on again, Sharron Angle!
